Play time is one of the most important parts of childhood, as so many things happen in the brains of children as they explore their world and engage in the act of playing. What is fascinating is how play can occur with almost any object one could imagine.
Making DIY toys has always been a hit with my children. From the first one we made on a snowy day when my eldest was about 13 months old to today with more elaborate concoctions of our own design, there is nothing quite like a toy you make yourself! I have 5 ideas for DIY toys to share with you. Get ready, these are simple, fun and sure to engage your kids!
1 Make homemade bouncy balls! These balls are made by hand and are tons of fun! Your kids will love experimenting with the bounce of each diy bouncy ball! This is a great DIY toy that combines play with the fun of science!
2. Musical instruments are always fun, but they can be pricey, even the baby versions! Why not save some cash, recycle and create your own drum set , jingle bell bracelet or rainsticks? These are easy projects that will bring your kids hours of musical fun!
3. With an old sock and a few fun accessories, you can make a DIY glamorous sock horse to inspire hours of imaginative play for your little ones! Best of all this is a toy you can make in under 30 minutes!
4. With a greeting card or a photo and a pair of scissors, you can create a really fun DIY puzzle that will challenge your kids while they have a lot of fun!
5. Make a Bubble Machine! This is such a fun and easy project! It keeps the mess contained and the kids happily chasing bubbles all afternoon! The best part- it requires basically no prep to complete this project!
