Car Body Kits Are Hot

Author: Kevin Lynch

The availability of car altering packages like body kits has become quite widespread and can even bee seen featured on popular television shows like TRICKED OUT on the 'Do It Yourself' network. Older models of the can be updated and 'tricked out' with body kits. Many auto enthusiasts have been able to take advantage of body kits that provide new polyurethane parts that are suitable for a wide range of cars. Installing body kits can be challenging but not impossible with some basic knowledge and the right tools.

When installing any kit like body kits, it is a good idea to have an assistant present because not all of the parts in the kit are small and two hands may be required for additional work. A number of materials will be required in order to set up body kits properly and can also help the installation process go smoothly. Some of the tools that are commonly required when putting on body kits are basic mechanic tools (ratchets, wrenches, extenders, screwdrivers, nut-drivers and more), a socket wrench, Phillips head screwdriver, drill, assorted drill bits, wire cutters or strippers, a utility knife, grease pencil, alcohol, electrical tape and self-tapping screws. A number of other tools can be required to install body kits and may be found listed on the kit's instructions.

These kits come with a number of different parts that often include a front bumper, a rear bumper, side skirt, fenders and other parts in a variety of styles and designs. Before installing body kits, it is important to make sure that the parts fit correctly. If someone is installing body kits and wants to paint the parts, he or she will not be able to change the parts once they have painted the pieces.

When dealing with body kits or any other body kit, a good rule to work with is to be prepared for anything. Some parts in body kits come without pre-drilled mounting holes while in other cases certain parts simply don't seem to fit properly. By having the right tools, some basic car knowledge and someone to help with the kit installation, body kits can provide an awesome makeover for anyone desiring a change for their car.
