Self-Responsibility and Personal Freedom

Author: Annette Colby

Many people get stuck in unhealthy patterns of life which are repetitive and habitual. These patterns keep us living within pre-set and unchanging levels of joy, love, abundance and health. To increase well-being and happiness, we engage in personal growth and the acceptance of increased personal power. We accept self-responsibility. What does is mean to be responsible for one's self? Accepting responsibility for our actions, thoughts, and the direction in which we will focus our attention and efforts. It means accepting that we are responsible for our own joy. This is no simple task, but a task all human beings face as we evolve to higher levels of joy and aliveness. The list below serves as a reminder that it is within our own power to create new habits which support our ever expanding joy, love health, abundance and life.

I. I alone have the responsibility to bring pleasure and satisfaction to my life.

II. I have the responsibility to bless myself with unconditional love and acceptance.

III. I have the responsibility to build myself up and motivate myself with positive self-talk.

IV. I have the responsibility to focus on exciting desired outcomes.

V. I have the responsibility to make decisions and follow through with them.

VI. I have the responsibility to build beliefs that create my success.

VII. I have the responsibility to recognize I am the cause of my choices.

VIII. I have the responsibility to view failures and effort as necessary steps along the path to success.

IX. I have the responsibility to experience inner peace.

X. I have the responsibility to persist until I succeed.
