California Wild Fires happen every year. The brush, which grows up during the winter dries out during the hot summer heat and becomes the perfect fuel for a raging wildfire. Due to human activity such as carelessness, stupidity and criminal activity once a fire starts in such conditions it can become a huge problem very fast. Fires are also started more often by lightening strikes, but either way once they get going it is tough to contain them. The San Bernardino Mountains and Valley are a common place for fires. The County of San Bernardino is huge and there is plenty of desert type area and lots of Mountains making fighting such fires even more difficult. Most of the major fires in the region end up costing 10 to 30 million dollars to fight within a few days. Recently the Sawtooth Fire raged havoc on the region and burned some 400,000 acres in less than a week and merged with a smaller fire. Once the big fires get going they make their own wind and weather and thus even rain clouds may not help put them out. Of course Hotter than Hell Heat also Hampers Help and often Helps Wild Fires. The State of California is not alone to the Wild Fire problems, yet they do have so whoppers each year indeed. Luckily the State of California has state-of-the-art equipment and a super mutual assistance program. At least once a year the Governor of the State of California issues a State of Emergency during major Wild Fires. California is not only prone to Earthquakes, but is also in the Fire Zone. Consider all this in 2006. |
