Devils LLC made a delayed Halloween arrival, landing atop the Las Vegas Hilton SuperContest in Week 9 with a 4-0-1 mark. The entry has 33 1/2 points and leads Eaglesfans4 Stan; Foolish, Tormented and Blessed; A.N.C. and Maximillion by two full games. Maximillion went 5-0 to move into one of the Top 5 money spots. The champion earns $303,000 and the Top 20 finishers will cash. Foolish, Tormented and Blessed was 3-1-1, Eaglesfans4 Stan was 2-2-1 and A.N.C. was 1-3-1. Feral Child trails the leader by three games and BDJTW and Class Sports Service are another half game behind. The season, which ends New Year's Day, is more than half over and Indianapolis, an easy victor over defending champion New England Monday night, is the NFL's only undefeated club at 8-0. Hilton players paid $1,500 per entry and make five pro selections weekly against a pointspread that's put up on Tuesday. They get a point for a win and a half-point for a push. The NFL had its second push of the campaign Sunday when Chicago (minus 3) and New Orleans deadlocked. Top consensus pick Green Bay, getting 6 from visiting Pittsburgh, lost to lower best bets to 5-4-1, including one week when there were two top plays. Favorites dominated, winning nine games, losing three and pushing one. The consensus line was 9-4-1 to go to 70-62-2 on the year. Amongst members of the Professional Handicappers League, Brian Gabrielle and Lynda Collins lead the way, going 4-1 last week and moving to the top 12% of the field with a total of 26 points. Big Al McMordie and Bryan Leonard both suffered 0-5 weeks to stay where they were after Week 8. McMordie has 25 points and Leonard has 19. Big Al's 2nd entry went 3-2 and has 23 points, as does Vegas Vic (David Rice), who was 4-0-1. Mike Lineback was 2-3 and has 21 1/2 points and Tursini Sports also was 2-3 and has 18. Players registered an even dozen 5-0s, nine 0-5s and nine did not submit cards. The prestigious SuperContest -- the most coveted football championship in Las Vegas -- drew a record 505 entries. |
